New York Fashion Week (NYFW) is the most highly anticipated week in the fashion world. Models, designers, stylist and fashionistas flock to New York every February to take part in the week-long event. As with every NYFW, fashion lovers study the runway for the latest style and beauty trends for the up-and-coming season. Here are the best makeup and style trends that we adore from NYFW 2017.
Less is More
Many designers decided to stick with the “less is more” philosophy this NYFW. From the clothing to hair and makeup, minimalist style made a definite impression on the runway. Models at Jason Wu, Carolina Herrera, and Calvin Klein all strolled down the catwalk with extremely neutral faces. Bold lips and shimmery shadows provided the occasional pop of color, but the overall tone was minimalism at its best.
Off the Shoulder
There’s nothing sexier than showing a little shoulder and a sultry decolletage. Many designers at NYFW seem to agree as the off-the-shoulder look was surely trending. Not only was the 80’s era off-the-shoulder look popular, but garments with strategically placed shoulder cutouts also made a statement.
Waist training has been very popular these past few years. This popularity has somehow managed to transform itself to the catwalk this NYFW. Cinched-in waistlines were all the rage, with designers incorporating corsets and thick belts into their pieces.
Yes. You read it correctly – robes. This NYFW, fancy robes took loungewear to a stylish new level with designers creating magnificent robes that can double as outerwear. From robe-inspired wrap dresses to elaborate kimonos, robes were the “it thing” to see going down the runway this season.
